Police are appealing for information after a man was hit with a metal bar and robbed in Telford.

Man injured after being robbed in Telford

The 20 year-old victim was approached by two unknown men and was asked what he had for them at around 6pm last night as he walked along Leegomery Road, in the area of Shed City.

Offenders punched the victim and struck him, with what was believed to be a metal bar, about the head.

The victim fell to the ground.

The robbers stole the man's bag and ran away towards Wellington Town centre.

Police are investigating the matter and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: "The victim managed to summon help from friends and was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital by them.

"He suffered cuts and bruises to his head and face and was treated for his injuries. He has since left hospital.

"Police are carrying out investigations and would appeal to anyone with information to come forward.

"We especially want to hear from passing motorists or pedestrians who saw any individuals acting suspiciously around 6pm yesterday."

The victim's bag contained an Apple iphone 4S, a Louis Vuitton wallet and around £25 cash.

One of the offenders is described as a male, around 6ft tall, of medium build and wearing a black hooded top.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Telford Police on the new non-emergency number 101. Alternatively information can be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
