Thieves have broken into a Telford pub and stole hundreds of pounds from a number of gaming machines.

Thieves attack gaming machines in Telford pub

The break-in happened at premises at Priors Lodge in Priorslee some time in the early hours of Tuesday.

Offenders forced their way into the premises and forced open three gaming machines.

The money within - which equates to around £1,000 - was stolen.

Police are investigating the matter and want to hear from anyone with information in relation to the matter.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: "A large number of coins were stolen from all three of the gaming machines. It is estimated that around £1,000 was stolen.

"This is a significant amount of coins and we would appeal to anyone who is aware of an individual trying to deposit a large amount of coins to a bank or to pay for goods with such currency to contact us.

"We also want to hear from people within the area who heard or saw anything suspicious. The public house is situated within a residential area so it is likely that somebody was disturbed by some unusual activity. If this was you, we would really like to speak to you."

Telford Police can be contacted by calling the non-emergency number 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers number 0800 555111.
