A car park in Shrewsbury which closed this week due to rising water levels on the River Severn has this morning reopened.

Shrewsbury car park reopens following flooding

Shropshire Council reopened the car park today following a clean up operation to remove debris and silt which has washed onto the carpark during the flooding.

A small section of the car park remained closed today but around 500-600 spaces were available to shoppers in the town.

Gravel Hill Lane, Sydney Avenue, Chiltern Farm Lane and the Atcham to Cross Houses road in the Shrewsbury area remain closed and will be assessed over the weekend.

Bridgnorth footpath remains closed
The footpath from Severnside South to Wellmeadow, with access from Pale Meadow, Washbrook Road and Sabrina Road, is closed due to flooding, and is likely to remain closed over the weekend.

For up-to-date information about flood levels, visit the Environment Agency website at www.environment-agency.gov.uk or call the Floodline on 0845 988 1188.
