A 19-year-old man has been robbed whilst walking with his girlfriend and two others in Telford Town Park.

Man robbed whilst walking in Telford Town Park

Police in Telford are appealing for information following the robbery between 5.15pm and 5.30pm on Sunday.

The man was approached by two unknown men from the direction of the church ruins.

One of the men grabbed the victim by the throat, threatened him and then demanded that he gave them his money and his mobile phone. A phone and around £10 in cash was handed over.

Without warning, the two men started punching the victim before they then grabbed a shoulder bag off the victim's girlfriend and made off towards the wooded area in the park.

A police spokesman said:

"The victim has been left shaken by this incident and also suffered bruising to his left eye socket and a cut to his left cheek as a result of it.

"Police are extremely keen to trace the men responsible for this robbery and have been given the following descriptions of the two men involved.

"The first man - who grabbed the victim round the throat - is described as being black, around 6ft 3inches tall, aged in his early 20s and as having a ‘stocky' build. He is also described as wearing a hooded top and a black cap.

"The second man is described as being white, around 6ft tall, as being fairly broad and as being around 19-years-old. He was also said to be wearing dark clothing.

"Anyone who believes they may have information about this incident, or who may know the identity of the two offenders, is asked to call officers in Telford on 0300 333 3000.

"Alternatively, please remember that Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111 if you'd rather leave information without getting directly involved yourself."
