Local heritage inspires Shrewsbury youngsters
Attingham Park inspired five year-old Lauren Monk, from Shrewsbury, to beat over 170 other entries to the National Trust’s Picture Yourself in the Midlands photography competition.

Both Lauren, and fellow Shrewsbury resident Scott Cartwright, the winner of the over 16 year-old category, took their winning photographs at the local attraction.
“We were extremely impressed by the quality of the photographs entered into our competition,” said Samantha Humphreys, Marketing Consultant for the National Trust. “We invited families to get outdoors and enjoy the fresh air at our fabulous gardens, parkland and countryside places; and to record their adventure on camera. The other judges and I felt that both Lauren and Scott’s photographs really captured the spirit of Attingham Park and that Lauren illustrated the fun she had there with her family.”
Lauren won a GE camera, a canvas reproduction of her photograph, and chose to spend her VIP family day out at the National Trust’s Charlecote Park, in Warwickshire. Scott received a canvas reproduction of his striking deer photograph as a prize.
Attingham Park is the perfect place to blow away the winter cobwebs and get outdoors. The park, walled garden, café, shop, bookshop and playground are currently open from 9am to 5pm, daily.
