A major search is continuing today to trace a missing woman who has not been seen since Thursday morning.

Search continues to find missing Orleton woman

Mrs Alethea Taylor, aged 63, who lives in Orleton near Ludlow, was last seen at around 8.30am on 19 January by her husband when he left home to go to work.

When he returned home at 4pm the same day Alethea was nowhere to be seen and she has not been seen since.

An enormous amount of work has been done in and around Orleton over the past two days, including specialist search teams and the use of the police helicopter to assist with the search, but unfortunately Alethea has not yet been found.

A police spokesman said:

“It is two days since Alethea has been seen and there are now real concerns about her welfare. She has been missing for two consecuitive nights and it goes without saying that we are very keen to find her and return her home as soon as we can.

“We believe she is vulnerable and there are concerns about her mental state.

“Alethea is described as being white, approximately 5ft 7inches tall, and as having short dark but slightly greying hair. When last seen she was wearing her night clothes but at this stage we do not know what she was wearing when she left home.

“A large number of officers are contuining to assist with the search for Alethea and we would ask anyone who believes they may have seen her since Thursday morning to contact us immediately.

“Alethea’s family and friends are extremely worried about her and therefore it is vital we find her and reunite her with her husband as soon as we can.

“I would urge anyone who has seen Alethea, or who knows where she is, to contact us as soon as possible and anyone with information should call police on 0300 333 3000 or 101.”
