A man has been arrested after police seized thousands of pounds worth of drugs from a property in Telford.

Officers from the South Local Policing Team executed a search warrant at an address in Wyvern in Woodside just before 9am today.

A total of 33 cannabis plants and an amount of loose cannabis were found in a hydroponics set up within two rooms of the property.

The street value of the find is estimated to be in the region of £36,000.

Officers are currently at the address securing the plants. They are set to be destroyed.

A 48 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of the cultivation and production of cannabis. He is currently helping police with their inquiries at Wellington Police Station.

Sergeant Louis Hylton, of the South Local Policing Team, said: "As a result of intelligence and information received from members of the public, a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act was carried out at an address in Wyvern.

"A total of 33 cannabis plants were found in two of the rooms within the house. Most of the plants were very mature and about two to three feet in height.

"We also found an amount of loose cropped cannabis.

"The premises had a good hydroponics set up, with lighting, water and heating all in place.

"Officers are currently at the address securing the evidence.

"This was a good result for us today and hopefully sends out a clear message that we will continue to pursue those involved in the cultivation and supply of drugs."
