Elderly man suffers burns in north Shropshire fire
An elderly man in his 70s was taken to hospital last night suffering minor burns and smoke inhalation following a fire at his home in north Shropshire.
Neighbours helped the man, who suffered minor burns to his hand, to safety after the fire spread through his home at Hollinwood, Whixall at around 9.10pm.
A number of rooms were damaged in the property during the fire including the roof.
Firefighters from Whitchurch, Prees and the aerial ladder platform from Shrewsbury all attended the scene.
