A man was arrested in Telford during the early hours of yesterday morning after a number of parked cars were damaged in a street.

Arrest made after vehicles damaged in Telford

Police were called to Aqueduct Road in Brookside at around 1.40am on Sunday to a report of criminal damage.

A total of eight vehicles - including a Ford Focus, a Vauxhall Astra, a Volkswagen Bora, a Seat Leon and a Peugeot 207 - were damaged. Wing mirrors were damaged and mirror casings were also damaged and smashed.

Hundreds of pounds worth of damage was caused.

Police carried out a search of the area and arrested a man nearby in Dawley.

The man - aged 20 - was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and was taken to Wellington Police Station for questioning. He was interviewed by police and released on police bail, pending further enquiries.

Police are investigating the matter and are eager to hear from any residents with information about the matter.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: "We are eager to speak to anyone who could help us with our enquiries.

"Most people would have been in bed, but if you were up and heard or saw anything in relation to the matter then please come forward and speak to us."

Telford Police can be contacted on the non emergency number 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers number 0800 555111.
