Telford police see rise domestic burglaries
Police are urging householders to ensure their homes are kept secure following a slight increase in the number of domestic burglaries across Telford & Wrekin.

During the last month police have seen a slight rise of around 10% in the number of burglaries across the borough.
Burglars are targeting homes by sneaking to the back of the property before forcing their way in. Various items from electrical goods to jewellery and gaming equipment are then being stolen.
Police are now urging householders to ensure that the perimeters of their homes are secure in order to prevent burglars from gaining access to their property.
They are also asking residents to mark their property.
Telford's Crime Risk Advisor Steve Loveridge said: "There has been a slight increase in the number of burglary dwellings during the last month.
"Burglaries are happening both during the day time and evening where offenders are going to the rear of the property and smashing windows and doors to gain access.
"We would urge individuals to make sure the perimeter of their home is secure and that gates leading to the rear of the property is closed and locked to prevent intrusion. Householders also need to ensure that windows and doors are locked and that keys or other valuables are not left on show. Anyone who witnesses any suspicious activity should call police immediately on the number 101."
He added: "We would also highly recommend that people mark their property. One of the best ways to do this is to use a forensically coded liquid that is widely available and gives your possessions a unique marking. We would also urge people to register their property at http://www.immobilise.com/.
"We are doing all we can to keep the number of burglaries to a minimum but it is important that members of the public help us by improving individual security measures in order to make it more difficult for the criminals."
