Thieves steal shopping trolleys from Telford store
Police are appealing for information after thieves stole a number of trolleys from a store in Telford.
A total of 15 trolleys - worth more than £3,000 - were stolen between 8pm on Thursday and 6am on Friday from the rear yard at B&Q at Telford Bridge Retail Park in Old Park.
It is believed the trolleys may have been gathered and sold on to scrap metal dealers.
Police are investigating the matter and are liaising with scrap metal dealers in the area.
A Telford Police spokeswoman said: "It is highly likely that thieves turned up to the premises with a van and loaded the trolleys into the back.
"We believe offenders may try, or already tried, to sell the trolleys to scrap metal dealers. We are therefore liaising with scrap metal dealers and have offered words of advice.
"If you know who is responsible, or know where the trolleys might be, then we urge you to come forward and speak to us."
West Mercia Police's Project Livewire is tackling the problem of metal theft across the force area.
Anyone with information about the trolley thefts should contact Police Constable Brett Tyson on 0300 333 3000. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
