Pet cat put to sleep after being shot in Market Drayton
The owner of a pet cat has been left distraught after it had to be put down after being shot with an airgun in Market Drayton on Friday.
Scooby, a 16-year-old ginger cat, suffered such serious injuries, that the vet had to put her to sleep when a single pellet struck her in the head, becoming lodged in her jaw.
It's thought Scooby was shot between 5pm and 5.45pm on Friday in the Chancel Drive/Farcroft Drive area.
The incident was reported to police by her distraught owner on Monday.
A West Mercia Police spokesperson said: "We are appealing for any information which might help us trace the person responsible. Contact Market Drayton police station on the 101 non-emergency number.
"Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers independent charity by calling 0800 555 111."
