North Shropshire road collision victim named
A young woman who died when her car was involved in a collision with an articulated lorry near Whitchurch on Sunday, was today named as Catrin Rebecca Pickles, aged 20, from Denbigh, North Wales.
Miss Pickles was driving a silver Vauxhall Corsa Hatch on the A525 Shropshire Lane at Woodhouses when the collision happened at around 9.20pm. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
She was travelling alone in the car towards Whitchurch when it was involved in a collision with a white Volvo articulated lorry being driven in the opposite direction towards Nantwich. The driver was uninjured but was treated for shock.
Police today renewed their appeal for witnesses. A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We are continuing our investigation into the circumstances leading up to this tragedy.
"We are anxious to receive any information which might assist us from witnesses of the actual collision or from anyone who spotted either vehicle being driven just before it happened.
"Contact Whitchurch or Shrewsbury police station on the 101 non-emergency number."
A post mortem will be held and an inquest is expected to open later this week.
