Air Ambulance Mascot drops into Shrewsbury school
Local school children had a special visit from the Midlands Air Ambulance team earlier this week when Mascot MAAC arrived to test their pancake making skills!

On Pancake Day pupils at Mount Pleasant Primary School, Shrewsbury, sold pancakes to raise money for the life saving charity and together with the sale of charity merchandise, the school raised a fantastic £230.
The children have been studying the work of real-life heroes and paramedics from Midlands Air Ambulance visited to teach the children about the live saving work they do.
One extra special visitor to the school was the MAA mascot – MAAC – who proved a great hit with the children and had great fun eating the pancakes!
The charity also took along the ‘helipod’ – an air ambulance cabin showing children how patients are transferred to hospital.
Mrs Williams, one of the organising teachers at the school, said that the children had thoroughly enjoyed the day, meeting MAAC and sitting in the helipod; “They have learned so much about a service that many of us may take for granted. It was quite an eye opener for them to learn about the work of the MAA and how much it costs to keep the helicopters in the air each year.”
Fundraising manager Maria Jones said; “The charity is solely reliant on the gernersotiy of the public and school fundraisers are a fantastic way of raising vital funds while teaching our supporters of the future what we do.”
