Police in Telford are appealing for witnesses following a robbery close to Mafeking Road in Hadley yesterday.

Man robbed and assaulted in Hadley

At around 4.45pm, as the victim - a 24-year-old man - made his way home from college along the alleyway that runs from Crescent Road to Mafeking Road, he was approached by two young men.

It is alleged that the two men spoke to the victim and then assaulted him before stealing a Blackberry mobile phone he had in his hand.

After taking the mobile phone the two men made off in the direction of Hadley Learning Centre (HLC).

A police spokesman said:

"Specialist officers based at Malinsgate Police Station are investigating this incident and they are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed it.

"Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen two young men running out of the alleyway towards HLC at around a quarter to five yesterday afternoon.

"As a result of this robbery the victim suffered a bloody nose and bruising to his face.

"One man - a 16-year-old - has been arrested in connection with this robbery and he is currently in custody in Telford.

"Anyone who witnessed this incident is asked to call police in Telford on 0300 333 3000. Alternatively, please remember that information can also be left anonymously by calling 0800 555 111."
