Thieves have stolen around 20 laptops worth a total value of more than £6000 after breaking into an office block on the Halesfield Industrial Estate.

Laptops stolen during Halesfield Industrial Estate burglary

The thieves targeted the business premises on Halesfield 6 early yesterday morning.

At around 5am they attempted to break into the premises by using a tool of some sort - possibly a crowbar - to force open a steel security door.

Their initial attempt to break in was unsuccessful but the thieves then targeted another door and this time they managed to force entry successfully.

Once inside the building it seems the thieves carried out a thorough search before stealing the laptops and making their escape.

A police spokesman said:

"We do not yet have full details about the laptops that were taken but it appears at least 20 are missing with a total value of more than £6000.

"Officers are currently examining CCTV from the premises, and from other businesses nearby, to see whether this offers any clues about who is responsible for this break-in, while forensic officers have also attended the scene looking for evidential opportunities.

"PC Graham Donaldson is keen to hear from anyone who believes they may have information about this break-in, especially anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Halesfield 6 area yesterday morning.

"Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call PC 259 Donaldson in Telford on 0300 333 3000. Alternatively, please remember that information can also be left anonymously by calling 0800 555 111."
