World famous singer and musician Bryan Adams has become a Patron of the Shropshire based charity Build IT International.

Bryan Adams becomes patron of Shropshire-based charity

The Bryan Adams Foundation has been supporting the work of Build IT International over the last four years and was one of the charity’s first supporters.

Through his support he has helped the charity to build health facilities, housing and schools which provide thousands of children with essential access to primary and secondary education in rural Zambia.

In addition, Build IT is equally pleased that Andrew Sentance, who has supported Build IT since its foundation, has agreed to join the Board of Trustees. Andrew Sentance is currently PwC’s senior economic advisor. Prior to this he served on the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England, and has worked as a professional economist in business and policy making for over 25 years.

Andrew’s interests include playing guitar in a band called ’Revelation.’

Build IT International has an innovative building skills training programme for local men and women, creating lasting employment opportunities and wider benefits for the poor rural communities where Build IT International works.

Bryan Adams said, “I agreed to become a Patron for Build IT International simply from seeing the results and dedication they have to making the lives of people better by teaching a trade and providing spaces to educate children. That’s what my foundation does, it helps people to help people.”

Andrew Sentance said, “I have been very impressed by the work that Build IT International has developed in Zambia, using sustainable building techniques to construct new facilities for communities, while providing much-needed training and work experience for construction workers. I am pleased to be joining BII as a trustee and I hope my business and policy-making experience will help with the future development of the charity.”

Commenting on these announcements, Andrew Jowett, Director, Build IT International said, ”We are thrilled that Bryan Adams has become Patron of Build IT. Bryan’s enthusiastic support will help to raise the charity’s profile and recruit new supporters. Andrew Sentance is a fantastic addition to our board of Trustees and we are confident that we will achieve our target of helping more than 150,000 people find a way out of poverty over the next four years.”
