Landmark Telford learning community hailed by Minister
Telford’s landmark Hadley Learning Community (HLC) is being recognised by the government for sustained improvement since 2008.

The Department for Education has recognised HLC to be one of the top 100 schools in the country to have continuously improved.
Secondary school pupils at HLC, aged 14-16 years have gained improved GCSE results year on year which has been highlighted as a huge achievement in the national Secondary (KS4) Performance Tables.
Nick Gibb MP, Minister of State for Schools, congratulated HLC by saying: “I would like to congratulate staff, governors and pupils for their hard work and success.”
When talking about the management of the school, Mr. Gibb also added:
“Thank you for your leadership in continuing the drive towards the highest standards and educational achievement.”
HLC Principal, Dr. Gill Eatough, said: “This is a huge achievement and one that the whole school is very proud of.
“Pupils, staff and governors are always striving to achieve better results and getting recognition from the Minister of State for Schools is evidence that our determination and hard work is paying off.”
Since HLC opened in 2006, Telford & Wrekin Council has devised a programme under Building Schools for the Future that aims to rebuild or remodel every secondary school in the borough to raise aspirations and attainment of pupils and the wider community.
Councillor Paul Watling, cabinet member for Children, Young people and Families, said: “What HLC have achieved in such a short space for time is phenomenal. More young people in Telford and Wrekin are gaining five GCSEs grade C or above including both Maths and English.
“Since 2009, the schools across Telford and Wrekin have improved by 10 per cent which is better than the national average which remains at 7 per cent.
“HLC is a fine example of how a new, state of the art learning environment and good quality teaching can help more young people achieve.”
