The Marches School goes the full mile
On Saturday 24th March, The Marches School in Oswestry will be hosting an Olympic Themed Charity ‘Fun Run’, around the school sports field.

As Sport Relief events take place up and down the county, organisers of The Marches ‘Fun Run’ have decided to host a similar event, with an Olympic Twist. Winners will be awarded ‘Olympic-Style’ medals designed and made by Marches students and the Heart FM Angels will be on hand with giant family games and face painting, to help participants relax and unwind following the race. Whether you wish to run, hop, skip or walk it, the race is open to all.
Raising money for both Sport Relief and an educational charity in Haiti, organisers are looking for fun and fancy dress, competition and companionship, sponsorships and donations to help the school donate as much as possible to these worthy causes.
The Marches Mile Event Organiser, Claire Cass commented “This weekend will see people up and down the county taking part in the Sport Relief Mile. Here at The Marches, we have tried to create an event that will support this, whilst also celebrating 2012 and the strong international links that the school has around the globe. By splitting donations between Sport Relief and the Haiti charity, we are supporting people in the UK and further afield and celebrating the way nations around the globe will be coming together in London, to take part in the 2012 Olympic Games.”
Participants can chose to either gather sponsorship prior to the event or just simply, make a donation on the day. Download a sponsorship form.
The school is aiming to raise at least £2000 to donate to charity and needs the support of local people. It’s so easy to get involved – just turn up and take part! So…Why not make your Mile, the Marches Mile!
