Shropshire man arrested after hoax bomb calls in Wrexham
A man from Shropshire was arrested yesterday after making a number of hoax bomb calls in Wrexham.
The man was arrested and taken into custody at Wrexham Police Station last night after emergency services received calls at around 5pm saying explosive devices were at locations on Island Green and Ruthin Road in the town.
Shoppers and staff at Wilkinson’s on the Island Green retail park and staff from council offices on Ruthin Road were evacuated following calls to emergency services.
Inspector Chris Jolly, incident manager from the joint services control room at St Asaph, said: “A man in his 30s from the Shropshire area has been arrested this evening for making the hoax bomb calls. He is currently being held at Wrexham police station pending questioning.
“No members of the public were hurt during the incidents and we apologise for any disruption that may have been caused.”
