Whitchurch residents to get faster broadband
Internet users in Whitchurch, north Shropshire, are set for a speed boost following the announcement by BT that the town’s telephone exchange is to be upgraded to support fibre optic broadband.

The work is estimated to be completed in around a year’s time and will eventually provide super-fast broadband to around 5,000 homes and businesses in the area.
Once enabled broadband users will be able to receive speeds of up to 80Mbps downstream and upstream speeds of up to 20Mbps if they take advantage of the new service offered by their broadband provider.
The news comes as BT today announced the locations of 73 more exchanges which are to be upgraded with fibre optic broadband using its fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) technology.
BT has now made fibre broadband available to more than seven million homes and businesses and is aiming to make it available to around two-thirds of UK premises by the end of 2014.
