Police in Telford are appealing for information after two men wearing balaclavas push passed a man after he opened his front door to them and entered his house.

Burglars enter Telford home and demand man opens safe

The men called at an address on Arden Avenue, Telford yesterday evening sometime between 8.30pm and 9pm.

The man in his 60s heard a knock at his front door and went to answer it.

While one of the men took the victim into his living room the second man made his way upstairs and grabbed a safe out of a bedroom. He then brought the safe downstairs and demanded the victim opened it.

A police spokesman said: "Understandably the victim felt extremely threatened and he quickly opened the safe for the men. They then stole around £200 from inside the safe before making their escape back out through the front door.

"Although the victim was left very shaken by this incident he has been able to give police officers brief descriptions of the two men that came to his door.

"The first is described as being around 6ft 1inch tall with a medium build and as wearing a dark jacket and dark trousers, while the second is described as being around 5ft 7inches tall with a stocky build and as also wearing dark clothes.”

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact police in Telford on 0300 333 3000. Alternatively information can be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
