Police investigating a burglary at business premises in Oswestry, today issued CCTV images of a man they believe may be able to provide vital information.

Police investigating Oswestry burglary issue CCTV images

Detectives are continuing their search for a gang of up to five men who stole cash and computer equipment from The Venue in Burma Road, Park Hall during the early hours of Friday, December 16 last year

They are appealing for the man featured in the two CCTV photos to come forward. He visited the premises the day before and it's thought he may have information to assist the police.

Detective Constable Mat Crisp, of Oswestry CID, said today: "We are trying to identify and trace this man as he may be able to help us.

"I urge him to contact Oswestry police station by calling 101. I would also ask anyone else who can identify him to please get in touch."

Police have already had several people come forward with details about the raid. DC Crisp said: "We are grateful for the information already received and are now renewing our appeal for further help in identifying the offenders.

"We believe the man in the CCTV pictures may have seen something which will assist and we are anxious to locate him."

Police say it is likely some of the offenders hid themselves inside the premises late on December 15 waiting for it to close and the staff to leave. They then let further offenders inside.

Internal doors were forced and a thorough search carried out. A quantity of money was stolen together with computer equipment and some alcohol. It's thought they may have been inside the premises for around three hours, making good their escape in a vehicle parked nearby at around 4am.

DC Crisp added: "This investigation remains very much open and we are appealing for any information, which will be handled in strict confidence, which might help us arrest the people responsible."

Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers charity by calling 0800 555 111, for which a reward may be paid.
