He was arrested in Sandford Avenue on Friday night when he was found to be in possession of cannabis and around £720 in cash, believed to be criminal property.

Officers assisted by a drugs dog, also carried out a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act at his home in Essex Road the same night where a quantity of cannabis, a Class B controlled drug was discovered.

The man was kept in custody at Shrewsbury police station overnight and then given police bail while enquiries continue.

Police Constable Damon Preston, the Local Policing Officer for Church Stretton, said: "This is an excellent example of how the police and local community can work together to make the town a safer environment and I urge people to carryon contacting us if they have any information about drugs or other criminal activity.

"The police can be contacted by calling the non-emergency 101 number and information can also be given to the anonymous independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.

"Once again, I would like to thank the local community in Church Stretton for its assistance."
