Shropshire wakes to blanket of snow

Snow forecast for the Shropshire hills overnight fell lower than expected as Shropshire residents woke to a blanket of snow this morning.

After one of the warmest Marches on record temperatures dipped overnight as the big chill already experienced in Scotland moved south.

Last Tuesday temperatures rose to 23.6C in Aboyne, Aberdeenshire, marking a new high in Scotland for the month.

Snow carpeted most parts of Shropshire overnight with around 2-3 inches on higher ground and a light dusting in other parts.

Strong gusts of wind also caused problems for motorists when trees fell in Prees on the A41, Marsh Road in Edgemond and Albrighton.
