Police today appealed for information about a series of burglaries at rural premises in the Bomere Heath area near Shrewsbury.

Thieves target rural premises in Bomere Heath area

They believe the five burglaries, mainly involving garages and workshops at isolated properties, may be linked.

The break-ins happened overnight on Tuesday into the early hours of yesterday with power tools and lap tops among the targets.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said today: "We believe these offences were probably carried out by the same person, or people. A witness appeal has been issued and we are also urging anyone who thinks they can identify those responsible, to contact Shrewsbury police station by dialling 101."

Two Makita drills in their boxes worth £350 were stolen from a farm workshop at Merrington. A Honda generator worth £250 was taken from the garage of a home in Bomere Heath. A Stihl strimmer valued at £150 was stolen from a household garage in the Broomhall area and a garden shed was broken into at Merrington Green but nothing stolen.

Thieves also sneaked into a farmhouse in the Harmer Hill area through an insecure back door. They stole a £800 Dell lap top, a Compaq lap top worth £450 and a Fuji Finepix digital camera worth £120.

A black leather folding wallet containing about £30, bank cards and a driving licence was also stolen from an insecure vehicle parked at the front of the premises.

Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers charity by calling 0800 555 111 for which a reward may be paid.
