Volunteers put all hands to the pump for Dawley Town Hall revamp
It’s all hands to the pump as once again today as volunteers will be seen broom in hand visiting Dawley Town Hall for the second tidy up day.

Work will continue today where Telford & Wrekin Council, Dawley Regeneration Partnership, The Phoenix School and various community groups and businesses such as Capgemini will be seen making more improvements that will help towards the overall revamp of the building and its grounds.
Broken furniture including kitchen units, rubbish and litter was cleared from the site in the last tidy up day, efforts will now focus on as removing partitions in the main hall.
Not only will efforts focus on the actual building, votes will be collected from local people by pupils for the Phoenix School to help decide the logo for the Town Hall.
To cast a vote on the logo, residents are encouraged to visit the band stand on Dawley High Street today or simply visit the Friends of Dawley Town Hall Facebook page www.facebook.com/dawleytownhall or alternatively the Great Dawley Parish Council website has the logos on display www.greatdawley.org
From adults to small children, everyone will be getting stuck in to help bring the Town Hall back to life and into the heart of the community.
A group of children will be finding their green fingers for the day to help litter pick around the site and tidy up the Town Hall’s overgrown flower beds for future replanting.
Cllr Frances Bould, Ward Member for Dawley Magna, said: "Everyone is starting to play an active role in this fully inclusive project; to restore Dawley Town Hall. Already the inside of the building and its gardens have been transformed into a tidier space and I’m sure with a little more elbow grease and hard work it will be different again after Friday 20 April.
“I would personally like to thank everyone who has played a role in the project so far and for those who have joined the Friends of Dawley Town Hall to show their continued support.
“Together we will share our proud history and create a bright future for this much loved community facility.”
Neil Stonehouse, Head teacher for Phoenix School, said: “ We are all very excited to be involved with the project to bring life back into Dawley Town Hall. At Phoenix we have always been committed to working closely with the community and see this as a great opportunity to contribute to what will be a wonderful additional facility for the people of Dawley and the wider area.
“Once our students heard about the project they were very keen to become involved and wanted to do anything they could to help. One group has already been involved in helping design a logo and all students have been able to contribute their ideas via a survey. It is very refreshing to see young people so excited about being involved in such a community project.”
