The 19 year-old man was walking with a friend along Southwater Way when the incident occurred some time between 5.20pm and 5.40pm yesterday.

The youths surrounded the victim and asked him for his money.

The teenager felt threatened and handed over all of the money he had, which comprised of small change.

The group then demanded the man's phone but left when he told them he didn't have one.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: "We really want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the group around the time of the incident.

"Officers are checking CCTV but we would like to identify as many witnesses as possible.

"The victim was shaken but fortunately was not hurt."

The offenders are described as four Asian males and a white male. They are all described as slim wearing tracksuit bottoms and hooded tops. The Asian males are described as 5ft 8ins tall to 6ft tall and the white male is described as around 5ft tall and aged around 14 years old.
