Telford Town Park Visitor Centre opens
A new £950,000 Visitor Centre in Telford Town Park opens today as the regeneration of the town centre and its environs continues to gather pace.

The state of the art Visitor Centre has been built in a central location within the park and replaces the now demolished Spout Farm House.
It includes a reception area which will provide information about the park to members of the public as well as a lost child point and first aid provision.
The new centre’s café provides a take out service offering hot and cold drinks and snacks including freshly made sandwiches and cakes, as well as children’s picnic boxes. The reception area also has hot and cold vending units for when the café is closed.
The centre also has public toilets including baby changing and disabled facilities. There is a catered education and meeting room available for hire.
Telford & Wrekin Council leader Kuldip Sahota said: “The whole Southwater development is set to transform Telford town centre as we know it and the investment in the Town Park is a key part of that.”
“The new Visitor Centre’s central location within the park means that it will become a focus for activity, building upon the improved park amenities delivered through £2.8m “Parks for People” funding”
“The Visitor Centre’s fantastic facilities are available for everyone to use and will help to encourage a more seamless integration between the park and the town centre.
“I am delighted that it is now ready to open to the public and that it’s opening coincides with the St George’s Day celebrations in the Queen Elizabeth II Town Park Arena.”
The new Visitor Centre has been built to exacting environmental standards and is extremely energy efficient, with every aspect of the design aimed at maximising sustainability.
Also now open in the Visitor Centre is the “Bicycle Hub in the Park” which sells, services and rents out bikes to the public. Visitors to the Park will be able to hire a bike and explore the park and the Ironbridge Gorge via a network of cycle routes and tracks.
