Man airlifted from The Wrekin after being crushed
A man was airlifted to hospital this morning after being crushed by felled tree in a wooded area of The Wrekin.

The incident happened near Rushton shortly after 9.00am this morning. The man was felling trees when one landed on his leg causing a serious leg injury.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “The ambulance crew had to navigate through the densely wooded area and over the rough terrain on foot to reach the patient. The Hazardous Area Response Team and the air crew joined the ambulance crew soon after.
“Crews and the doctor assessed the man’s injury and gave him pain relief to stabilise his condition before his leg was immobilised with a splint.
“The Hazardous Area Response Team, with help from fellow colleagues, carried the man back through the wood and to the awaiting air ambulance before he was airlifted to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
An ambulance crew, paramedics from the Trust’s Hazardous Area Response Team and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a MERIT emergency doctor on board attended the scene.
