Car fire causes delays between Telford and Shrewsbury
A car fire on the A5 westbound between Telford and Shrewsbury, has this afternoon caused problems for motorists.
The fire involving a saloon car broke out close to the Preston roundabout just before 4pm, and saw police close the carriageway as firefighters from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service tackled the blaze.
Commuters heading from Telford soon got caught in traffic queues following the road being closed at Junction 7 of the A5 at Wellington.
During the peak of the rush hour traffic backed up to Junction 5 of the A5 westbound at Telford town centre.
A diversion route was put in place using the old A5 the B5061 to Shrewsbury through Atcham.
