Police are investigating after a 33 year-old man was robbed of his mobile phone and injured following a night out in Telford.

Man injured following mobile phone robbery in Ketley

The victim was on his way home and was walking along Waterloo Road in Ketley, past the Blue Elephant restaurant when two men are believed to have got out of a nearby parked car and attacked the victim and stole his mobile phone.

A passer-by came across the victim and called police. The suspects then left the scene.

The victim was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital where he was treated for cuts to his face.

Police are investigating the incident, which occurred at around 3am on Saturday, and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: "The attack appears to have taken place at the entrance to the Blue Elephant car park on Waterloo Road.

"Two men are believed to have got out of a silver or light coloured car, which was parked at the traffic lights on Waterloo Road, facing towards The Shropshire Star direction, and attacked the victim.

"His Apple iphone 4S was stolen.

"The victim suffered facial injuries that required hospital treatment.

"We are eager to trace the offenders and would appeal to anyone with information to come forward.

"In particular we want to trace any passers by in the area who saw a man walking along Waterloo Road, or who saw the vehicle parked up.

"We also want to hear from anyone who knows of any individual who is suddenly in possession of a white iphone 4 without explanation, or who has tried to sell one in the last few days."

Anyone with information should contact Telford Police on 101. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
