Shrewsbury River Severn safety campaign to be launched
A river safety campaign is to be launched during a river festival in Shrewsbury today.

The campaign which is being spearheaded by Britain’s Got Talent star and swimming coach Zoe Cooper will be launched during a river pageant to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Zoe, who runs the Shropshire Swim Academy, will launch the campaign at the Shrewsbury River Festival on Sunday.
The campaign aims to educate about the dangers of the river and follows the deaths of 29 people in Shrewsbury since 2006.
Shrewsbury and Shropshire Waterways & Leisure Group, organisers of the festival, have allocated £2,000 which will be used to teach, life-saving skills, enhanced swimming and water safety awareness.
