A pizza delivery suffered cuts and bruises after he was assaulted as he attempted to deliver some food to an address in Telford early this morning.

Pizza delivery man assaulted in Telford

The man aged in his 30's - attempted to deliver a pizza to an address in Withywood Drive in Malinslee shortly after midnight today when the attack happened.

Nobody answered the door so he went back to his car. But when he returned, he was confronted by three unknown men.

One of the men head butted him and then a violent struggle ensued, where a number of punches were thrown.

A neighbour heard noises and went out to investigate. The offenders then ran off.

Police are treating the incident as an attempted robbery and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: "We believe the men wanted to steal the delivery man's money but were interrupted by the neighbour.

"The three offenders were all wearing a scarf over the lower half of their face at the time of the attempted robbery. They are described as being white and aged in their twenties. One was around 6ft tall and of large build, and the other two were 5ft 10ins and 5ft 11ins tall. The taller man and another man were both wearing light grey coloured tracksuits and white scarves over their faces.

"During the incident, the victim recalls striking the offenders a number of times during the scuffle. Therefore it is likely that the offenders sustained injuries as a result.

"If you have any information about the incident itself or have information in relation to possible offenders, then please come forward."

Anyone with information should contact Telford Police on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111.
