Three charged with murdering man in Bridgnorth

Mr Sherratt was found dead in a first-floor flat in Old School Mews, off the High Street, on Thursday.

Three people who were arrested on Saturday were last night charged with murdering the 57-year-old in Bridgnorth on 14 June and robbing him.

They are a man aged 50 from Tipton, Sandwell, another man aged 32 from Perry Barr, Birmingham, and a 25-year-old woman from Aston, Birmingham.

The younger of the two men and the woman have also been charged with perverting the course of justice.

They will all appear at Telford Magistrates Court this morning at 10am.

Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Tonks, who is leading the murder investigation for West Mercia Police, said:

"I would like to thank those who have come forward to help our inquiries and also remind people that anyone who believes they may still have information about Mr Sherratt's death can contact us on 0300 333 3000."

Details can also be forwarded anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
