Police Constable Kevin Payne has appealed for anyone who might have seen what happened to get in touch on the 101 number.
"I am also keen to hear from anyone who might have witnessed the manner of driving by either vehicle involved immediately before the collision," he said.
"The road was closed for several hours while police collision investigators worked and the vehicles and debris removed from the scene."
