Work to improve department at Princess Royal Hospital begins
Work to create a new and improved Head and Neck department at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford will begin today.
Work is taking place this weekend with the public entrance to the Accident & Emergency temporary closed. Those visiting the hopspital will be directed to the nearby Day Surgery entrance to the hospital.
Part of the A&E department will be moved into the Day Surgery Unit. The major emergency entrance used by ambulance crews and the resuscitation room will be operating as normal.
Andrew Stenton, Director of Operations at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, said: “This work is an important part of improving the services we provide for our patients. We will temporarily be asking people to use the Day Surgery entrance to the hospital rather than the public A&E entrance over the weekend, but apart from that it will be business as usual. We apologise for any inconvenience caused while this essential improvement work is carried out.”
People will be directed to use the Day Surgery entrance at the Princess Royal Hospital on from 7am today until 7am on Monday.
