A free fun day with lots of activities for all the family is taking place in Telford today to celebrate the completed redevelopment of a fire-damaged local centre.

Telford & Wrekin Council has worked with Great Dawley Parish Council and local businesses such as RMP Events Ltd to fund and host the event at Malinslee Local Centre which celebrates the reopening of local shops – including a hair dressers and convenience store following an arson attack in May 2012.

Today’s event starts at 1pm with a ribbon cutting ceremony, activities include: Zumbatonic dance for young people, bouncy castle and inflatable slides, gladiator arena, bungie rope running to name but a few.

Promotional incentives and giveaways will also be available for customers visiting the One Stop Shop, Millionhairs and Malinslee Fryer that day and information stalls will be onsite showcasing a range of council services.

Councillor Shaun Davies, cabinet member for Neighbourhood Services and Co-operative Council and ward member for Malinslee , said: “Since the fire Telford & Wrekin Council, local people, partners and the businesses affected, have come together to rebuild the Malinslee local centre. It's a brilliant example of team work, commitment and supports the council’s Co-operative values.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in the project and encourage everyone to come along and celebrate.”
