A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a series of burglaries across Oswestry and North Shropshire.

Teenager arrested over Oswestry and north Shropshire burglaries

The youth was arrested in Wrexham on Tuesday 26 June 2012 by West Mercia Police officers.

He was interviewed about five burglaries that took place earlier this month in Oswestry, Wem and Shawbury, two of them involving the theft of high-powered cars with their keys.

The teenager has been released on police bail pending further enquiries and the investigation continues.

Police Constable Rob Buxton, said police believed a series of burglaries in the area over the past few weeks are connected.

He is keen to hear from anyone who might have information that could help the investigation.

"I am especially keen to hear from anyone who might have had young men knocking on their doors and asking suspicious questions," he said.

"There have been at least two occasions in the past couple of weeks where people have answered the door and been asked about someone who doesn't live there.

"When told they had the wrong house, the callers have left but on each occasion, the occupant had a high-value car on view outside.

"It may be that the calls were completely innocent but I would like to hear from anyone who might have had these people knocking on their door."

Information can be passed to police by calling 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
