Sainsbury’s unveils plans for Market Drayton store
Detailed plans for a new Sainsbury’s foodstore in Market Drayton will be unveiled at a public exhibition later this month, as part of a wider public consultation.
The public exhibition, which will give the local community the opportunity to view the plans and discuss the proposals with the Sainsbury’s project team, will be held at the Festival Drayton Centre, Frogmore Road, Market Drayton on Friday 13th July (1.30pm – 6.30pm) and Saturday 14th July (10.00am – 2.00pm).
Sainsbury’s is proposing to redevelop the Vicon Works industrial units off the A53 in Market Drayton, with the current occupier moving to other premises nearby.
A new 30,205 sq ft Sainsbury’s foodstore in Market Drayton will create around 200 new full and part-time job opportunities for local residents and provide more food shopping choice in the area.
The proposed development will feature food and non-food products, a restaurant, in-store bakery, 250 parking spaces, recycling centre and facilities to deliver online grocery orders directly from the store.
Information leaflets are being distributed to households in the area, but anybody wishing to request a copy can call Sainsbury’s Freephone 0800 975 5299. The leaflets will also be available at the exhibition to enable people to provide feedback as part of the public consultation.
Andrew Sanderson, Regional Development Executive for Sainsbury’s, said: “We are pleased to confirm our plans for a new foodstore in Market Drayton. The proposed store will improve the food shopping offer in the town, as well as creating around 200 new job opportunities for local people.”
If anybody is unable to attend any of the exhibitions, they can call Amy Kershaw on Sainsbury’s freephone on 0800 975 5299.
