Co-Op in Church Stretton celebrates fortnight of charity activities
Community retailer The Midcounties Co-operative hosted a charity fun day to mark the end of two weeks of activities for Co-operatives Fortnight.

The event, at The Co-operative Food store in Lion Meadow, Church Stretton, was part of the International Year of Co-operatives, as designated by the United Nations, which is about working together to build a better world.
A bouncy castle and fun games, including pin the sting on the bee, were amongst some of the attractions on the day helping to raise funds for Magara Primary School in Tanzania where Midcounties have previously carried out volunteer work, helping repair a classroom. Church Stretton United Nations and Church Stretton Fair trade group also handed out Fairtrade food tastings.
Rachel Lockett, Membership Development Officer, said: “We wanted to do something special for our members and colleagues especially given that it’s International Year of Co-operatives which is all about working together to build a better future.
“Everyone had a great time at the event which was fun and engaging and helped to promote the message that the Co-operative business model is better for everyone. It was an amazing day and I’d like to thank everyone who came and supported it.”
