Police have released an e-fit picture of a man who sexually assaulted a 43-year-old woman near Shrewsbury's Kingsland toll bridge.

E-Fit released of Shrewsbury sex attacker

The woman was assaulted as she was about to get into her car at around 11.20pm on Friday, July 13.

She was approached by a man who asked for a cigarette light and then indecently touched her before running off. The woman was not seriously hurt but was left frightened and distressed.

The e-fit picture of the attacker has been released in the hope he will be recognised.

Detective Sergeant Dave Meyer said today: "This was a serious, unprovoked incident and we are anxious to trace the offender.

"I am appealing to people to contact Shrewsbury police station by calling 101 if they recognise him from the picture."

The man is described as white, in his mid 40s, of average build with very dark hair. He was a little under six feet tall and thought to have been wearing a long-sleeved white checked shirt and jeans.

DS Meyer added: "We would welcome any information which might help the investigation and I urge anyone who thinks they recognise the man in the picture, to please come forward."

Information can also be given to the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
