Four men have been arrested after police seized hundreds of cannabis plants in Telford.

The men were arrested following the discovery at three separate addresses as a result of information passed onto police by members of the public.

The first find was made at an address in Haybridge Road in Hadley on Wednesday afternoon. An amount of cannabis and a hydroponics system was found at the property.

Three men - aged 23, 25 and 43 - were arrested on suspicion of producing a controlled class B drug, namely cannabis. The men were taken to Malinsgate Police Station for questioning and were released on police bail yesterday, pending further enquiries.

Another discovery was made at an address in Dallamoor in Hollinswood yesterday afternoon, as a result of information from the public. Around 300 mature cannabis plants were seized from the address.

Scenes of crime officers attended the address and carried out a full search of the property. The plants have been removed and are set to be destroyed.

Then a few hours later, around 120 smaller plants, described as seedlings, were discovered at an address in Manor Road in Hadley by police. One man - aged 29 - was arrested on suspicion of producing cannabis. He was taken to Malinsgate Police Station for questioning, where he remains.

Detective Sergeant Richard Davies, who is investigating the discovery of the cannabis plants, said: "The discovery of these plants is significant for us. Seizing these plants will significantly disrupt the availability of cannabis within the communities of Telford.

"All of the finds were made as a result of information passed onto us by members of the public and we would like to thank those individuals for their help. However, we need the continued help of the public in combating the drugs trade in Telford and I would urge anyone who has any concerns about drugs in their community to call us.

"We act on all information received and would ask anyone with information to call police direct on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously via 0800 555111."
