A section of the M54 motorway is to close overnight as parts of a 240-tonne bridge is delivered which will create a new slip road from junction two of the motorway onto the new i54 business park.

The westbound carriageway of the M54 will close at 10pm this evening between junctions two and three, the road will reopen at 6am on Sunday.

During the closure diversions will be via the A449, A5 and A451.

Once assembled, the bridge is scheduled to be lifted into place over the motorway during overnight closures on August 22 and 29.

The i54 business park on the Staffordshire/Wolverhampton border is a joint project between Staffordshire County Council and Wolverhampton City Council, which are each investing £20m in the scheme.
