Volunteers get ready for 125th Shrewsbury Flower Show
Tomorrow, Friday 10th August, will see the beginning of the 125th Shrewsbury Flower Show, the world's longest running flower show.

On the eve of the Show, to celebrate, Shropshire Horticultural Society has commissioned two iconic images celebrating this milestone year.
The first sees local beauty, Holly Smith, discovering that life really is a bed of roses in Shrewsbury Quarry Park, the setting of the famous Show. For the picture, almost 1,000 beautiful roses were supplied by Harkness Roses, who will be exhibiting at this year's Show.
The second photograph sees 125 volunteers for this year's Shrewsbury Flower Show gathering in Quarry Park to celebrate the imminent arrival of this year's event.
Brian Goodwin, Chairman of Shrewsbury Flower Show, said: "Without our volunteers the Show just wouldn't be possible, so it is very fitting that they are helping us to celebrate the arrival of what should be our best Show to date."
As well as over three million beautiful blooms, the 125th year of the world's longest running flower show will give visitors the chance to see live cookery demonstrations from James Martin, gardening hints and tips from Chris Beardshaw.
There will be 12 hours of live arena entertainment this year; including quad and motorcycle stunt shows performed by Jason Smyth, live folk rock by Oysterband - who will play tracks from their award winning album, Ragged Kingdom – and performances by Shrewsbury Male Voice Choir.
Fans of the London Olympics will also be able to watch the games live from the Flower Show, as a large screen – measuring 40 metres square – will be located above the main arena.
The 125th Shrewsbury Flower Show opens at 8:30am for members and 10am for non-members.
