Police are appealing for information after a man was threatened with a knife and robbed of cash in Wellington.

Man threatened with knife and robbed in Wellington

The 21-year-old victim was walking along Whitchurch Drive when the incident occurred some time around 12 noon to 12.30pm on Sunday.

As he walked under the railway bridge, towards Furrows Service Station on Haybridge Road, he was approached by two Asian males.

The pair grabbed the victim and threatened him with a knife before searching his bag and taking a small amount of cash from his wallet.

The offenders then ran off towards the back of Crescent Road in Hadley.

The victim summoned help from fire-fighters at a nearby fire station. Officers at the station contacted police.

The man was left extremely shaken and suffered bruising to his arm following the incident but did not require medical treatment.

A Telford Police spokeswoman said: "This was a nasty attack on a man in the middle of the day.

"We are hoping that a passer-by, either on foot or in a vehicle, saw something that could assist us with our enquiries.

"We especially want to hear from any individuals who saw the robbery itself take place, or the offenders or victim before or after the incident occurred.

"If you have any information at all, please do come forward."

Anyone with information should contact Telford CID by calling 101. Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
