Police name Shropshire man who died at V Festival

Timothy Brockhurst from Stoke Heath, near Market Drayton, was found in a tent at the Weston Park site in an unresponsive state.

He was pronounced dead at about 1am, his death is not being treated as suspicious.

Security workers at the music event were alerted to the young man's condition and he was given emergency aid by a security guard and an on-site doctor but they were unable to revive him.

The immediate location was sealed off by police for forensic examination and statements were taken from Mr Brockhurst's friends.

Specially trained family liaison officers were today working to support Mr Brockhurst's family. His cause of the death remains unknown, a post-mortem will take place.

Superintendent Pete Owen, of Staffordshire Police, said:

"Organisers, emergency services and all those involved in the festival are saddened by Timothy's death, and our sympathies are with Timothy's family and friends at this time."

A V Festival spokesman added:

“Organisers wish to extend their deepest sympathies to Mr Brockhurst's family.

"Our team worked throughout the night to support those affected at the festival site and we want to thank everyone for their co-operation and support during the incident.”
