Wrockwardine Wood Burglary leaves family distraught
Police in Telford are appealing for information from the public as they investigate a burglary in Wrockwardine Wood.
It appears that thieves broke into the property on Smith Crescent through the lounge window on Saturday 18 August, sometime between 2.20am and 8.15am.
While the occupants were asleep, the thieves carried out a search and then stole a number of items including an XBox and XBox games, an Acer laptop, a Hewlett Packard laptop, an Apple iPad 2 and a Blackberry Curve.
Eighty five 50 gram packets of Cutters Choice tobacco were also taken and interestingly these had foreign writing on the side as they had been brought home from a holiday.
Speaking about this burglary, Detective Constable Ian Benjamin said:
"The family who live at this property have been greatly affected by this burglary and one of their younger sons is having trouble sleeping since it happened.
"One of the laptops had a store of family photos on it and they now fear these photos are lost for good.
"In addition to the property that was stolen, the thieves also stole £100 off the mantle piece which was to be used for some day trips for the family.
"This is a despicable crime and those responsible have no thought or consideration for their actions, the consequences, and those that are left in their wake.
"I would implore anyone who might be as sickened as me about this crime to come forward with what they know.
"These people need catching and putting before the courts. We want to do everything we can to get them off our streets and prevent them from doing this to someone else.
"We believe the offenders have been trying to sell the stolen items in the Donnington area and we are therefore keen to hear from anyone who believes they may have been offered the chance to buy any of the property taken during this break-in.
