Police have said that two people have now been arrested in connection with a robbery in Bridgnorth when a 12-year-old boy was assaulted and his mobile phone stolen.

Two arrested after young boy assaulted in Bridgnorth

The robbery happened last Thursday as the boy walked along the B4373 Broseley Road. A car pulled up alongside, a man got out, pushed the boy and grabbed his phone. The vehicle then made off.

Police issued an appeal for witnesses and circulated details of the offenders. It's thought there were two adults in the car and possibly a young child.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said today a man and a woman from the Birmingham area were arrested on Sunday when their car was stopped by Staffordshire Police officers in Newport Road, Eccleshall.

They were taken into custody at Shrewsbury police station on suspicion of robbery and have since been given police bail with conditions while investigations into the incident continue.
