A man in his 20s has died and another is in a critical condition after a Range Rover collided with a lamp-post and tree in Jackfield during the early hours of yesterday.

Man critical following fatal collision in Jackfield

The collision occurred on Ironbridge Road in Jackfield at just after 2.45am when a green Range Rover travelling towards Broseley left the road and collided with a lamp-post and then a tree.

Emergency services were called to the scene immediately but one man - the driver - was pronounced dead a short time after paramedics arrived.

Three passengers from the vehicle - two men and a woman - were quickly rushed to hospital and they all remain in hospital at the present time.

One of the men believed to be the front seat passenger is described as being in a critical condition, while the other man and woman have injuries that are described as serious but not life threatening.

Police officers from the Force Operations Support Team in Shrewsbury are investigating and would like to hear from anyone who believes they may have witnessed the collision, or any incidents that may have led up to it.

Anyone who believes they may have information is asked to call PC Simon Fearn in FOST on 0300 333 3000, quoting incident number 110S 020912.
